This photo shows the bulb just before hte spikes at the top have been made

This photo shows the spikes almost complete, there is one left to do and the crochet hook is still attached.

This photo shows the second step to making a spike

This photo shows the next step being done

This photo shows the next step, please refer to written instructions for what stitches needed

This photo shows the next step, please refer to written instructions for what stitches needed

This photo shows all spikes are completed, all ends have been weaved in

Cut 4 long pieces of forest green yarn. Knot each piece one at a time tightly around the bulb as shown below to create 8 segments.

This photo shows a yarn needle going straight through the top of the bulb at the base of the spikes. There is green yarn threaded onto the needle

This photo shows the yarn has been pulled through on the yarn needle, it now goes in one side and out the other, it is long enough to wrap around the entire bulb

This photo shows the yarn has been wrapped around to the MR point of the bulb and the ends have been tied together tightly so that the sides of the bulb are dented. This is the process of making the bulb segments.

This photo shows the top of the bulb with the yarn knotted at the base, it shows the sides are evenly dented along where the yarn is taut

This photo shows there are now three pieces of yarn evenly placed and tied tight to create even segments around the bulb

This photo shows the same with as the above photo but from the base of the bulb. The ends have not been weaved in and are showing.

Double wrap the strands if needed.

Row 14:  Turn, 15 sc (15)

Row 15: 4 sc, inc, 8 sc, inc, 4 sc

FO. Leave a long tail of yarn for attaching. Make 2.

Pin the back legs on first using the images below as a guide. The raised sides are the outer sides of the legs.

This photo shows the back legs pinned to the back the body. The tall part goes along the body while the short part is only connected along the legs last row

This photo shows the legs pinned in place but from the view of the belly. One leg is stitched in place while the other is still only pinned

This photo shows another angle of the legs and how they should be attached, this time from the side view

Secure the back legs with yarn and then attach the front legs in the same way.

This photo shows the legs have been completely attached and now the arms/front legs are pinned, this is the side view

This photo is another angle of the front leg pinned before it is stitched in place, the view is from the under side

Claws

Use white yarn.

Row 1: MR 4 (4)

Row 2: 1 inc, 1 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc (6)

FO. Leave a tail of yarn for attaching. Make 12.

Pin 3claws to each leg and secure in place with yarn.

Markings

Use dark teal yarn.

Bulbasaur has darker markings on his face and his body. To make these markings chain 2-5 stitches and work 1-4 rows to make a small square. Sc around the entire edge of the piece to tidy up the sides. FO and leave a tail of yarn for attaching. Make approx. 8 of these shapes.

Pin the bulb to the body and secure in place with yarn (photo below is from another Bulbasaur I have made).

This photo shows the bulb sitting on top of the body, it is held down by pins

To create the face details find some good reference images online to trace onto paper. Cut the shapes out and then pin them to the felt. Cut out all felt pieces and position onto the face with pins. Glue or stitch in place.

This photo shows a near complete crochet bulbasaur, the felt details for the face have been cut out and pinned into position on the face

This photo shows an alternative face where the mouth is made with lines of yarn rather than felt sheets
